Bob Richmond

Bob Richmond is the executive director of design and development for Villaggio at San Luis Obispo, a post he comes to with both professional credentials and personal passion. In a 50‐year career that has garnered close to 100 national, regional and local awards for design excellence and been showcased in numerous books, newspapers, and magazines, Bob is one of San Luis Obispo’s most accomplished architects. He is an alumnus of Cal Poly’s prestigious school of Architecture and Environmental Design and was the founding partner of prominent architecture and planning firm, RRM Design Group.

Bob regards every design project – more than 1,900 in his portfolio to date—as an opportunity to enhance one’s lifestyle. Villaggio at SLO is his crown jewel, reflecting a long‐held dream to bring the design aesthetic and sensibility of Mediterranean villages to San Luis Obispo. Bob’s vision is of a community with a centralized Piazza that offers intimate courtyards and views of majestic hillsides, dazzling outdoor community gardens and water features, welcoming restaurants, and spaces for enjoying time together. And while the design concept may be rooted in styles born 1,000 years ago, Bob’s project is grounded in modern day energy and design efficiency and the best in Life Plan Community features.
